HARLEY DAVIDSON 1939 UL, UNRESTORED WITH VIRGINIA TITLE, FLATHEAD, KNUCKLEHEAD. I got this 1939 UL out of a garage in Bristol, Tennessee in the mid 1990's. IT IS NOT ORIGINAL PAINT. It includes a clear Virginia title that was released in 1988. I have had it kept for all these years and I do not know how long it was inthe garage before I found it. When I bought it, it was partially disassembled. The motor ran out the frame with the leading end off. The lower end appeared to be new and we installed brand-new pistons which are 80 over 74 bore. The valves looked OK to run so we didn't do anything to them. The transmission is 1939 just and looked reasonable inside. It has the proper 1939, one year only, transmission and gas tank shift gate. It has the appropriate, 3 bolt, M51 carburetor. Exactly what I see in aftermarket parts is tail light, head light lens & & reflector, cable televisions, coil, tool box, floor boards, muffler, fender trim, license plate bracket, inner primary and kicker pedal. It does have some appropriate aftermarket hardware. It has actually a later on closed joint Harley Davidson solo seat. The outer primary is later on, 1941 up, but it does have the 1940 and earlier clutch assembly. The speedo is correct for 1939. The 18" rims and spokes appear to be initial, BUT it does not have step hubs. The frame is 1939 and seems really good. The front end is correct for 1939 and appears straight. The handle bars are bent but should have the ability to be straightened.
