Summary of duties and responsibilities:

Assist the Lab Technician on 2nd shift (2:
00PM - 10:30PM) in performing all daily tasks involved in the laboratory operation as set forth by Chemist.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Testing and documenting results of incoming base oils and additives, blend samples, and fill samples. (Final approval to remain with Chemists)
  • Calibrating and/or standardizing of all instrumentation on scheduled basis or as needed if a problem arises before the next calibration date.
  • Keeping up with regular cleaning of the lab including but not limited to glassware, testing benches, trash, and floors.
  • Blending, testing, and recording data of hand blend formulations as generated by Chemists
  • Maintaining sample integrity and storage in proper storage area.

  • Retrieving samples from compound as needed for hand blends

Other duties and responsibilities:

Future responsibilities may include formulating finished products, interacting with suppliers and customers, participating in safety related activities.

Required education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:
1 year of experience in an industrial lab environment.

Desired education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:
Bachelors degree in Chemistry / Associate’s degree in chemistry with 2 years of experience.

Physical environment/working conditions:
The position is in the laboratory and involves standing, bending, walking for long periods of time throughout the day. This position occasionally involves heavy lifting of about 50lbs.

Equipment and Machinery used:
Lab instruments like viscometers, chilling baths, XRF etc

Must be able to work as part of a team. Must comply with OSHA and company safety and hygiene standards.
