Position Summary

The function of this position is to properly operate the pump and metering system to achieve accurate blends per request, as well as the loading and offloading of railcars and trucks. Regular gauging of tanks and obtaining samples are also duties often required to be performed by this position.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Perform daily gauges on tanks to calculate volumes by API gravities and measurements.

2. Operate multiple pumps, meters, and steam valves to properly blend products in designated tanks.

3. Properly chose tanks for blending based on provided compatibility charts, tank sizes, and tank drain capabilities.

4. Provide preference information for the spotting of railcars according to loading and offloading capabilities.

5. Load and offload railcars to designated tanks.

6. Operate multiple truck racks to load trucks by weight using provided API information.

7. Heat, dump and kettle blend drummed additives in additive shed for specific blends as requested by meter and pump operator in compounding.

8. Connection and disconnection of hoses in various pump rooms in order to achieve blends in proper tanks.

9. Shooting air or pigs through lines in order to properly clear the lines of product and save product loss through clingage.

Minimum Competencies

  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Have some previous knowledge of a blending process and the lubricants industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some past mechanical or blending experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a chemical or lubricants blending company is preferred.

  • Have extensive knowledge of blending process and the lubricants industry.

Physical environment/working conditions

  • Ability to stand 6-8 hours
  • Able to use stairs
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending and squatting required
