Claims Paralegal (Direct Hire)

Local, reputable law firm is currently seeking a Claims Paralegal to join the Firm's various Practice Areas on a full-time basis.  If you are a recent grad with some claims experience seeking to develop your professional portfolio and move up in a reputable Firm, this is a great opportunity!

Benefits:

  • 1st year:
    4 sick days/5 vacation days;  2nd-3rd years: 5 sick/5 vacation; 4th year: 5 sick/10 vacation; 5+ years: 5 sick/15 vacation

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

"Essential functions" are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

Paralegals may perform the following:

  • Responsible for all attorney’s clerical tasks including organizing and establishing case files.

  • Complete legal documents and maintain compliance with regulations.

  • Confirm the case status with the attorney.

  • Help attorney prepare for court and trial (if necessary)

  • Perform typing, filing and document and file review.

  • Screen calls and take messages.

  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant changes in laws affecting assigned areas of expertise, assessing effect on current procedures and make recommendations to attorneys.

  • Perform general office administration duties and other general office assignments upon request.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Paralegal Certificate/Degree or equivalent

  • General knowledge of personal injury (tort) and family law claims (prefer 1+ years experience dealing directly with Claims, whether by externship or direct work experience)

  • Ability to handle administrative duties with minimal supervision

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with rapidly changing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Possess the ability to multitask and maintain a high level of organization

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

 

WORKING HOURS:

Work may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the duties of the position. Work may require travel.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Overtime is possible and may be expected in order to perform the essential functions of the position. Work is performed in a normal heated or air-conditioned office environment.
